Forest School for Grownups

Grownups deserve to experience the joys of play, nature & discovery, just as much as kiddos do.

Are you in need of some playful, outdoor time, to just unwind and reset, maybe to meet some like-minded people? Forest School for grownups gives you permission to just be you with no expectations, shoulds or musts.

Forest school has been around for a REALLY long time in many forms, and for invasive species like me to lay claim to defining it would be ridiculous. What I offer is an experience, guided by nature, based on principles passed down to us from generations all over the world. It’s what we all know in our hearts, and feel in our bones. Being amongst nature and wild things is good for us, because we too, are nature. Forest school is suitable for people of all fitness levels as you are in control of your body and your choices.

So what does a session look like? You’ll enjoy gentle, guided nature meditation, playful craft invitations, sensory experiences to connect with the natural world, playtime opportunities, and a little forest floor tea party to finish up.

Take a look at the FAQs below for more information or check out the Field Notes for a full, detailed description for those of you that like to be fully prepared.

Forest School for grownups is as fun as you’d like it to be. You’re safe, encouraged, and welcome to let your inner child roam free.

FAQs

  • We offer a few different locations in Golden, BC depending on the season and group size. These places have been scouted out for their natural beauty, seclusion, easy vehicle and foot access for all abilities, and all-around winning vibes. We always aim to minimize our impact on the landscape and local ecology.

Locations will be specified on each event listing.

  • $35 for 2 hours

The price of the ticket goes towards Forest School for kiddos and feeding the buffalo.

We ask that you only book a space if you are fully intending on coming. Spaces are limited and no-shows are super sad for me and all the trees that didn’t get hugged.

Payments are taken via Paypal to secure the booking. T&Cs are included in the booking portal.

Refunds or exchanges are only given up until 3 days before the event to give me time to fill the space.

  • Yourself, appropriate clothing (see the Field Notes for details on what to wear), any medication or emergency supplies you usually carry, and your emotional support water bottle. Fill the bottle with water… that should go without saying really. If you have allergies, bring your medication and please let me know in advance so you don’t end up without snacks.

Some people love to bring a journal or sketchpad. Anything that makes you feel comfortable, safe and supported.

  • We love the puppers, the cattos and pretty much all animal life if we’re honest. Unless specifically advertised, we don’t invite pets along to our walks, they require special considerations and we find that for the good of the group experience, it’s best to let the furry friends have fun without you for a few hours.

We will be offering dog-friendly group walks in the future so stay tuned.

If you’d like to book a private walk, group or solo, then get in touch to talk about the inclusion of pets.

  • Of course, but we ask that you either turn it off or set it to silent so you’re not distracted and other group members don’t get interrupted.

Some people like to take photos but we spend enough time on our screens, give yourself a well-deserved rest, eh?

  • It’s awesome, that’s what it it. If you want to read all about what a forest school experience looks like, take a look at the Field Notes.

The basis of this practice has been around for a long time in many forms and in many cultures. Although I offer something a little different, and a little more light-hearted than some, the real teacher here is nature and she’s been knocking about a lot longer than the rest of us ‘certified guides.’

  • In partnership with the land, I will be your guide for the session. I’m a qualified Forest School Practitioner and a Certified Nature & Forest Therapy Guide, I am trained in wilderness first aid and I’m not afraid of bugs or snakes.

You can read more about me and my story in the Field Notes or hang out with me on instagram.

  • I’m trained in wilderness first aid and before every session, I do a safety assessment check. You’ll be asked to sign a waiver when booking, mainly because we are grown ups and responsible for making our own good choices, I’m on hand to help guide as much as needed.

Golden is bear country, amongst other things so I will always have bear spray within arms reach, you’re welcome to carry your own.
